MOSCOW, July 17. /TASS/. England’s Chelsea football club and Russia’s CSKA Moscow FC have agreed on transfer terms of Russian midfielder Aleksandr Golovin to the London-based club, a journalist from Italy’s Corriere dello Sport reported on Tuesday.

According to earlier media reports, several European football clubs expressed their interest in hiring Russia’s 22-year-old midfielder, including England’s Arsenal FC and Italy’s Juventus FC as well as Monaco football club.

"Chelsea and CSKA have agreed terms for a deal to sign Aleksandr Golovin," Matteo Pedrosi, a journalist with Corriere dello Sport, wrote in his Twitter account. "Player has rejected Monaco offer. No Juve advance. Golovin will be a new Chelsea midfielder."

Golovin has been playing for CSKA Moscow FC since 2012 and during the last season of the Russian championship he chalked up five goals and three assists in 27 matches. Playing for the Russian national football team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup this summer, he scored one goal and made two assists in four matches.

This summer Russia hosted its first-ever FIFA World Cup, which kicked off in Moscow with a remarkable opening show at Luzhniki Stadium on the evening of June 14 and ended with a spectacular final match, played also at the Luzhniki Stadium, where France soundly defeated Croatia 4-2 to clinch the much-coveted World Cup Trophy.

The country selected 11 host cities to be the venues for the matches of the 2018 World Cup and they were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara.

The national football team of hosts Russia managed to make it to the quarterfinals stage of this world championship, where Croatia edged them out in a 4-3 penalty shootout on July 7 at the Fisht Arena in Sochi.
